Meet the V4 | World's Best Pogo Sticks

Pogo Stick on Steroids

The V4

The V4 is one amazing pro pogo stick, if we don’t say so ourselves. The whole design of the V4 is centered around creating a portable trampoline. With the V4 you can jump 2 feet high or even 6 feet high, but you can also take it anywhere you want to go. The V4 is most comfortable when jumping 5 feet high or less, although it is still capable of going up to 8 feet. It’s a great all-around pogo stick, capable of doing just about anything you want.

V4 Pro

The V4 Pro is the best pogo stick we have to offer. It takes everything the V4 has and kicks it up a notch. It’s the most capable pogo stick in the world and the same one you see the pros riding. With 2 extra inches of stroke and a reduced friction bushing, the V4 Pro has a smoother bounce and is more comfortable at higher altitudes. If you’re looking to do tricks, jump over stuff, or go as high as possible – the V4 Pro is your best bet.

Small V4 vs Small V4 Pro Size Comparison

If you’re between 4’8” and 5’5” (142cm — 166cm), we recommend getting the small. If you’re 5’3” and growing fast, you can consider purchasing a medium. But keep in mind that jumping on a stick that’s too tall is more difficult than jumping on a stick that is too short. If you are in between sizes, it’s usually better to go smaller.

Medium V4 vs Medium V4 Pro Size Comparison

More than half of our sales are for mediums these days. If you are between 5’6” and 5’11” (167cm — 182cm) then the medium is your best bet. Lots of people choose to purchase a medium so that the whole family can share it. If you want to jump as high as you possibly can, you’ll be able to do so on the size that fits you best.

Large V4 vs Large V4 Pro Size Comparison

Our large pogo sticks are meant for people taller than 6’ (183cm) with an inseam 33” or longer. If you happen to be right on the cusp of the large and medium sizes and plan on doing lots of big air tricks, consider getting a medium instead of a large. The smaller size will make it a little easier to move around on and maneuver in the air.

As a rule of thumb we recommend that jumpers weigh 75 lbs or more to ride a V4 pogo stick, but more athletic jumpers can get away with weighing less. Someone who weighs 60 lbs will feel a lot of friction in the pogo stick. Because of that they’ll need to time their bounces properly in order to power the air spring. If you’re less than 60 lbs you should wait until you get a little heavier. It’ll be well worth the weight!

There is no upper weight limit for the V4 Pogo Stick. We’ve yet to encounter anyone who can outperform our air spring. The V4 air piston can withstand almost 1,000 psi…contrast that to Biff Hutchison’s 11-foot record jump in which he reached about 450psi, and we’re a long ways off from really pushing the limits of the V4’s design.

Vurtego Pogo Stick Section Diagram

The V4 Pogo Stick holds 2,844 cc of total air volume to create our air spring. That’s enough to create a crazy smooth, totally soft bounce that gives you the potential to jump just about as high as you could possibly imagine. The design of the pogo stick itself is actually really simple. The inside of the pogo stick is an empty chamber, at the bottom of which is the V4 Air Piston. When you land on the ground, the piston gets pushed up into the cylinder and compresses the air within. Air doesn’t like being compressed; like…at all. When air gets squeezed into a small space the molecules get all excited and bang into each other, forcing the air to expand to its normal state. When the air expands it pushes the piston back down to the bottom of the cylinder. When that happens you go flying into the air. The design is almost exactly how a regular metal spring works, but the execution of it is very tricky. We have to manufacture our pogo sticks with extreme precision to ensure that they hold air properly.

Our original goal was to create the feel of a trampoline. It’s taken quite a while, but we’ve finally nailed it with the V4 pro pogo stick. The result is a softer and more controllable feel than ever before, giving you the ability to do anything you want, whether that’s jumping over cars or just a couple inches off the ground.

The V4 colors totally rock, but we’ve also added 4 new breather holes to increase circulation and maximize air flow while you bounce.

The V4 is designed around our brand new air piston. By adding 229 cc of additional air volume to the cylinder, the air piston is responsible for creating a softer, smoother, easier bounce than ever before. The V4 now has a lower end weight requirement of 75 pounds.

We completely reinvented the shock donut. A friction fit that sits snug on the slide shaft and sound damping nubs help to increase air flow and provide a smoother feel.

Painted in a specially formulated ultra-grip powder coat, our traction pegs lock your feet in place and help you stick those last second landings.

The V4 slide shaft is made from ultra-strong 301 stainless steel and provides extra stroke for maximum hangtime. Couple that with the additional air volume in the cylinder, and this new setup gives you the ability to bounce higher with less effort.

The 88a urethane grip tips provide more traction than ever. The domed bottom is designed to provide consistent surface area no matter what angle you are coming in at.

V4 Pogo Stick Bounce Mode vs Travel Mode

In contrast to old school pogo sticks, the V4 uses our patented air spring to launch you into the air…like…if you were to look inside the cylinder it’s completely empty! If the fact that air alone can propel you ten feet into the air isn’t cool enough, then what about the fact that when you’re done using the V4 you can let the air out and completely collapse the pogo stick for storage or transportation?

Check out the pic above – the guy on the left has a fully inflated V4 Pro, and the guy on the right has a V4 with no air in it. The V4 comes with no air in it, and when you pump it up, the shaft and tip pop out of the stick. When you’re done bouncing and let the air out, the shaft compresses inside of the stick for travel mode. Freaking awesome!

The medium V4 goes from 52″ in height during bounce mode to 34″ in travel mode.

V4 Pogo Stick Bounce Mode vs Travel Mode

Our air-powered pogo sticks are manufactured with extreme precision. Just a few widths of a human hair too small, and the piston will not properly seal air. A few hairs too big, and the piston will be tight inside the cylinder, slowing down the bounce and creating unnecessary friction. Manufacturing our parts locally enables us to oversee production and randomly test samples for specific measurements before bringing them back to our warehouse. This ability to test parts as they are produced and adjust the manufacturing process accordingly means the difference between pogo sticks that are good and pogo sticks that are great.

Every single pogo stick we sell goes through a rigorous build, inspection, and testing process. Once the parts are manufactured in Southern California we ship them to our Orange County warehouse where they are assembled by hand with an 8-point inspection process. We then pressurize the pogo sticks for 72 hours at 40 psi, testing to ensure that no air was lost over the 72 hour pressure testing period. A little bit of bouncing to ensure that everything sounds and feels good, and then the pogo stick is boxed up and ready for shipping. testimonial 2

This is not your toy pogo stick from childhood – this is serious! testimonial 1

This is so freaking fun! Yes I’m still huffing and puffing. But each day I’m getting a little more skillful, and the longer I go the better a workout I get! testimonial 3

It’s really easy to set up right out of the box, an excellent cardio workout, and a TON OF FUN!

Choosing a size - small (4

You only want to jump a foot or two off the ground? Not a problem. A little bit of air creates a nice, soft spring. The low air pressure will soften the spring for a carefree bounce that won’t go more than a couple feet high.

When we say you can do just about anything on the V4 that you can do on a trampoline, we mean really do mean it! For us, the V4 is all about that split second of lapse in gravity, the weightlessness, at the top of a really high jump.

Biff Hutchison V4 Pro Pogo Stick Testimonial

for the last 10 years I’ve dreamt of the absolute limits of how high you can go on a pogo stick. with previous models I tinkered, modified and customized as much as possible — but they still weren’t good enough. with the V4, all of that is out the window. out of the box, the V4 is the perfect marriage of a very technical responsive trick stick and a world record achieving high jump stick.

i’ve been pogoing for 12 years and started, like many others, on a traditional stick. i’ve witnessed the progression of pogo technology for more than half of my life. the V3 was an amazing stick. then the V4 came out. the extra air capacity and reduced friction was game-changing. the V4 is the perfect combination of a very responsive trick stick and a white knuckle high jump setup. it’s smooth, comfortable, easy to control, and jumps higher than any other pogo stick in the world.

Using a pogo stick for exercise and training

When we say that the V4 provides a serious cardio workout, we’re not joking around. Spend one minute on the V4, and your heart rate will skyrocket. The V4 provides one of the most fun forms of full body exercise you’re likely to find without having to drive like a hundred miles. Even cooler than getting a great workout is that it doesn’t even feel like exercise. Just hop on and bounce away, and before you know it your heart will be pounding and the sweat will be pouring. You know the feeling of fun you experience while skiing or snowboarding all day long and then the soreness all over the next day? Jumping on our pogo sticks is a bit like that.

As a low impact, high intensity exercise device, the V4 is perfect for HIIT (high intensity interval training), Crossfit and circuit training, and any other sort of training in which you’re looking for a high heart rate through short bursts of energy.

MUSCLES WORKED: lower back, glutes, quads, hamstrings, calves, forearms, and triceps.

The incredible durability and quality of the V4 is a huge reason we are able to go bigger than ever. I have nothing but confidence in every piece of my setup, and that inspires me to try crazy sh!t every time I ride.

Whether you’re ten years old or sixty, the V4 has something fun in store for you. The air spring in our V4 can be adjusted to accommodate anyone over 75 pounds (34 kilograms for those of you outside the US), so no matter how much you weigh the V4 can handle you with ease.

For those of you that bounced on a pogo stick as a kid and think back to your childhood with fond memories, the V4 will rewrite history. Those memories will soon be nothing more than a distant past, as the days of bouncing on that rickety old pogo stick will be replaced with the sensation of human powered flight. And for all the kids out there with experience on another pogo stick and dreams of the big leagues, you have no idea what’s awaiting you. The V4 can’t be compared to any other pogo stick in the world…even our previous pogos.

Learning new tricks is one of the things that makes our pogo sticks so awesomely fun. No matter how good you get, there are always new tricks to try and push the limits with. Landing new tricks can be a time consuming and risky process. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re likely to get hurt while trying many of the big air tricks for the first time.

We’ve teamed up with Biff Hutchison, who’s been teaching a pogo class for a few years now, to provide a roadmap for your pogo progression – starting with stepping onto the pogo stick for the very first time and working all the way up to the craziest tricks in the game.

noun: the number of seconds during which an object is suspended in the air.

We stand behind all of our pogo sticks because if we stood in front of them we’d totally get trampled.

We really do build our pogo sticks to a high standard. Every single pogo stick is built by hand in our Southern California shop. We then allow each pogo stick to pressure test for a minimum of 72 hours in order to ensure they hold air. Once pressure tested we closely inspect each pogo stick prior to boxing and shipping. Because of that, our rejects are really, really low.

Our pogo sticks come with a 1-year warranty on parts. During that year Vurtego will replace or repair any part on your pogo stick that is defective or breaks. Damage due to misuse or modifications is excluded from the warranty.

Handlebars are excluded from the warranty because they are designed to give way in order to help prevent potential injuries. We could easily make them from steel rather than aluminum. It would be cheaper. But it’s a safety thing. We learned the hard way, and we care. If you use your pogo stick aggressively and push the limits, you’ll break the handlebars sooner or later. We sell 3-pack replacements in that case.

The V4 pogo stick cylinder is extruded specifically for Vurtego from 6063 T5 billet aluminum. Our specially designed extrusion process creates a perfectly smooth interior wall to provide a uniform seal with the piston o-ring seal.

Once the extrusion process is completed, our top cap bracket is TIG welded to the cylinder, sealing off the upper end of the cylinder from air leaks. 8 breather holes are positioned at two different points on the cylinder, allowing for a more even air intake and exhaust throughout the bounce. By doubling the number of breather holes in the V4 Pogo Stick cylinder, we have significantly increased circulation and airflow in comparison to the V3 Pogo Stick. This helps to reduce friction and provide a smoother, more effortless bounce.

After the cylinders undergo the manufacturing process, they are anodized and powder coated. The anodizing process helps to fill in any minor scratches on the inside cylinder walls and also strengthens the aluminum, helping to prevent against dings and dents. The powder coat paint makes them as beautiful as you can imagine. The final result is a cylinder beefy enough to withstand just about anything you can throw at it, yet light enough for you to whip around in the air.

While we’ve updated nearly every major part from the V3, the V4 Pogo Stick is designed around our brand new Air Piston. By combining the spacer and piston in the V3 to become a new cup-shaped air piston in the V4, we can store an additional 14in³ of air inside the pogo cylinder, increasing to 176in³ total. It may not sound like a whole lot, but that extra air  changes everything. You’ll be able to bounce just as high with a lower psi, opening the door to new possibilities.
The Air Piston makes this pogo stick ride smoother, softer, and easier than ever before.
This is going to help you get better faster.

The Air Piston also allows people who weigh less than 100 lbs. to jump on the pogo stick.
The V4 now has a lower end weight requirement of 80 pounds compared to the V3’s 100 pound weight requirement.
If you’re only around 80 pounds, the V4 is the pogo stick for you.

We’ve completely redesigned the shock absorber for the V4. With a smaller outside diameter, it now hugs the shaft, sliding up and down with the piston as you bounce. The smaller outside diameter of the shock absorber allowed us to reposition the breather holes in the cylinder. As a result, we were able to double the air intake and exhaust, spreading the circulation more evenly though your bounce. The final adjustment we made was adding a series of nubs on both side of the shock absorber. The nubs reduce the impact area of the shock absorber, reducing overall noise.

A specially formulated powder coating is applied to our Traction Pegs, providing a griptape-like feel to ensure that your feet stay locked in place on the pogo stick at all times. This coating will help you land those particularly tough tricks and last second landings without fear of losing your footing.

The Air Piston has been coupled with a longer slide shaft to help you jump higher with less effort on the V4 Pogo Stick. Due to lower air volume in the V3, the slide shaft stroke length was limited to a particular length – 14″ for a small, 16″ for a medium, and 18″ for a large. By adding more air to the cylinder, we created the ability to offer longer slide shafts.

The V4 Pogo Stick has 1″ of extra stroke, and the V4 Pro has 3″ of extra stroke on the slide shaft compared to the V3. The more stroke you have on our pogo sticks, the higher you can jump and the easier it becomes to do so.

Because the V4 Pogo Stick has 1″ of extra stroke, you can bounce higher than ever before. Even more exciting is that because it’s softer and smoother to jump on – much more like a trampoline – you don’t need to put as much energy into bouncing. This reduction in energy makes bouncing at big air heights nearly effortless. You can shift your attention from focusing on jumping to focusing on what you want to do next. This makes it more controllable and maneuverable – landing new combos and setting up tough lines will be easier than ever.

The V4 Pro has a stroke that is 2″ longer than the V4. This additional stroke length means an even smoother and higher bounce. But is also means the pegs will start around your knees, so be prepared to step up onto it before you even begin jumping!

One of our most proud improvements is our Grip Tip. We’ve changed the shape of our Grip Tip to a symmetrical dome, which provides a consistent amount of surface area no matter what angle you bounce at. This new Grip Tip will help to keep you off your butt and in the air. Just remember, no matter what material we use, bouncing at too severe of an angle or in wet or slippery conditions should always be avoided. When in doubt, ditch the stick and let it take the fall!

V4 Reduced Friction Bushing

Made out of black acetyl, the V4 bushing is strong, slippery and has undergone quite a change, but the most important thing you need to know is that it now has 40% less friction. Simply put, this means a smoother ride.

V4 Pro ‘Mod Ready’ Bushing

For those of you looking for the ultimate height potential, the V4 Pro Pogo Stick is designed with an optional upgrade. All you need to do is place lubricant in each of the 4 cutout pockets to get the best ride that we offer!
